Liverpool look set to continue their big spending of the summer so far, with the Daily Express outlining Brendan Rodgers’ five main targets still to come in before the end of the transfer window.

Having finished second last season and missing out on the Premier League title in dramatic style, the Reds look determined to make the most of the money brought in from Luis Suarez’s £75m sale to Barcelona, as well as the cash brought in from qualifying for the Champions League, with further big names expected to follow the arrivals of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Lazar Markovic.

Liverpool certainly look like building themselves one of the most dense squads in the Premier League at this rate, though it remains to be seen if they will be successful in bringing every player on this list to Anfield, with some ambitious targets among the five names.

5) Dani Alves (Barcelona)

A superb attacking full-back and experienced and proven winner, Dani Alves has emerged as an interesting transfer target for Liverpool in the last few days. The Brazilian is likely to be part of Barcelona’s mass clear-out this summer, joining the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas out of the Nou Camp exit door, and the Reds are supposedly ready to pounce if he does become available. Although perhaps past his peak, Alves could still have plenty to offer to the club and could prove a bargain if he is allowed to move for a cut-price fee.

4) Alberto Moreno (Sevilla)

An exciting young left-back, it is claimed that Liverpool have made significant progress in bringing Alberto Moreno to Anfield from Sevilla. The 22-year-old possesses great ability going forward from the back, and would surely suit Liverpool’s style of play perfectly with his great technique and natural ability. With Aly Cissokho failing to impress during a loan spell on Merseyside, and youngster Jon Flanagan playing out of position on the left-hand sider, Moreno’s signing is a must for Brendan Rodgers this summer, and the club will be delighted with the news that he is ready to lower his wage demands to complete this transfer.

3) Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Although now notorious for some x-rated pictures published on the internet in the last few days, Ezequiel Lavezzi is another big name on this list that would make an exciting signing for Liverpool. The Paris Saint-Germain attacker, who can operate in a number of advanced midfield roles or even upfront, is likely to be available for transfer after struggling to find his best form in Ligue 1 since moving from Napoli a couple of years ago. Still a top talent, though, there’s no doubt the Argentine could benefit from a move elsewhere and make an impact in the Premier League.

2) Jose Callejon (Napoli)

A somewhat ambitious target, Liverpool are also believed to be interested in Napoli’s in-form Spanish winger Jose Callejon. The former Real Madrid man only joined the Italian side last summer but has made an immediate impact under former Reds boss Rafael Benitez. It seems unlikely that Napoli will agree to sell him so soon after signing him, but with an immense record of 20 goals and 6 assists from out wide last season, it is no surprise to see him come up on Rodgers’ radar.

1) Wilfried Bony (Swansea City)

A player attracting plenty of interest after a superb first season at Swansea City last term, Wilfried Bony could prove to be Liverpool’s answer upfront as the Reds continue to pursue him. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be tracking the Ivory Coast international, but with Luis Suarez leaving a big hole upfront in the Liverpool squad, it would make sense for Rodgers to step up his interest in this powerful and prolific centre-forward, though the Swans are understandably desperate to keep him at the Liberty Stadium for a little longer.
