Manchester United Rumour Roundup: Vidal And Vermaelen Transfer Updates, £36m Bid For Serie A Star And Netherlands International On Verge Of Signing

Friday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Manchester United and Juventus’ Arturo Vidal agree £182,000-a-week contract

A deal to sign Vidal appears to have moved closer for the Red Devils after an agreement has been met for the Chilean’s contract.

Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that the 27-year-old’s agent Fernando Felicevich has met with United and agreed a wage for his client.

New manager Louis van Gaal does have some issues with Vidal’s knee injury, but the club are still keen on signing the South American.

The Red Devils are also prepared to pay the £36m asking price for Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado

It seems that the raid on Serie A is not over as Cuadrado could well be arriving at Old Trafford as well this summer, according to the Daily Express.

With van Gaal having introduced a new 3-5-2 formation to the side the Dutchman likes the idea of the Colombia international playing as one of his wing-backs.

Cuadrado is a versatile performer and United have already had a £32m bid for the 26-year-old rejected by La Viola.

Arsenal don’t want to sell Thomas Vermaelen to their rivals

Arsene Wenger gave the 13-time Premier League champions hopes of signing his captain Vermaelen on Thursday and then immediately snatched them away.

As the Telegraph reports the 64-year-old admitted that the Belgium international could be sold this summer, but would prefer the defender to go abroad.

This seems to put FC Barcelona in pole position to sign Vermaelen, with the Catalans viewing the 28-year-old as the ideal replacement for recently retired skipper Carles Puyol.

Other reports say United are closing in on Vermaelen and AS Roma’s Mehdi Benatia

However, according to the Daily Star the club are still very much in the chase to sign the Belgian in a double swoop that also includes Benatia.

The 27-year-old has been constantly linked with a move away from the Italian capital this summer after contract disputes with Roma.

It’s thought that the Red Devils would have to shell out £30m to land the Morocco international though.

Daley Blind expected to leave Ajax as van Gaal closes in

The Netherlands international has been a long-term target for the 62-year-old having worked with him with the Dutch national team for two years.

Ajax youth coach Richard Witschge has admitted that he thinks the 24-year-old utility man with leave the Amsterdam ArenA soon.

“I think Daley Blind will be leaving soon. I have a feeling.  He has been training by himself. I think he has done that because there’s something going on,” Witschge was quoted by the Daily Mail.
