The Ultimate Transfer XI Of Summer 2014 With New Arsenal And Liverpool Signings Included

The best team of new signings this summer.

It’s already been a busy summer of transfer business across Europe and here CaughtOffside brings you the best XI of new signings so far ahead of the 2014/15 season.

GK – Keylor Navas, Levante to Real Madrid

Was considered by many to be the best goalkeeper in La Liga last term and affirmed himself as a top-class stopper with his performances for Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup.

Has now joined Madrid where he is likely to leapfrog both captain Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez to be the No.1 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

RB – Serge Aurier, Toulouse to Paris Saint-Germain

Still only 21-years-old this young right-back made it into the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in 2013/14 for his impressive performances.

Aurier is adept in both defence and attack and also looked in good shape when representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup and has joined PSG on-loan with a view to a permanent deal.

CB – Ezequiel Garay, Benfica to Zenit St. Petersburg

After helping his team to successive Europa League finals and the Primeira Liga title last campaign, big spending Zenit came in for the Argentine and snapped him up.

Garay is a regular for his national side as well and will join a plethora of talent already playing in the Russian top tier.

CB – Dejan Lovren, Southampton to Liverpool

Sneaks in ahead of David Luiz despite the fact his move from Chelsea to PSG cost double the £20m the Reds paid the Saints for this Croatia international.

However, Lovren proved during his first 12 months in the Premier League that he is a fine talent at centre-back and could be just what the Merseysiders need.

LB – Filipe Luis, Atletico Madrid to Chelsea

It’s a similar story at left-back, as although this Brazilian was over £10m cheaper than Manchester United’s deal to sign Luke Shaw, his experience makes him a better option currently.

Filipe played a key part in Atletico winning La Liga last season and also reaching their first ever Champions League final.

CM – Cesc Fabregas, FC Barcelona to Chelsea

Another Blues purchase now as Fabregas has returned to English football following three years away with his boyhood club in Catalonia.

Things at the Nou Camp didn’t go as well for the 27-year-old as he would have hoped, but the West Londoners look to have a hit on their hands with this £30m purchase.

CM – Toni Kroos, Bayern Munich to Real Madrid

Having entered the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena the Bundesliga champions were put in a difficult position and eventually opted to make at least some money out of this World Cup winner.

Despite being considered one of the best midfielders in world football Kroos cost Los Merengues a relatively cheap £19.8m and looks set for great success.

CAM – James Rodriguez, AS Monaco to Real Madrid

Madrid have certainly been busy in the transfer market and were moved to make this Colombian the fourth most expensive player of all time by paying £63m for his services.

Rodriguez had a brilliant World Cup this summer where the 22-year-old won the Golden Boot for the six goals he scored for his nation.

RW- Alexis Sanchez, FC Barcelona to Arsenal

Another Barca star who has left for England now as the Gunners sanctioned their second most expensive fee ever upon paying £35m for the Chile international.

Sanchez arrives at the Emirates Stadium with a great reputation and manager Arsene Wenger is hoping the 25-year-old can solve his side’s attacking issues.

ST – Robert Lewandowski, Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich

Despite being considered to be one of the best strikers in the world this Poland international made the move from Dortmund to rivals Bayern on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has followed in the footsteps of new teammate Mario Gotze by making this controversial switch, with the attacking midfielder completing his in 2013.

LW – Luis Suarez, Liverpool to FC Barcelona

It’s been another year where the Uruguayan has barely been out of the newspapers, helping the Reds to a second placed finish and winning PFA Player of the Year, biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini and earning a four-month ban and then signing for the Catalans for £75m.

Suarez is the middle of that ban currently and cannot play until October, but alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar should make up arguably the greatest attack in world football.
