The Magpies are said to still be in the hunt for another striker and are keeping tabs on both Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette and Queens Park Rangers speedster Loic Remy, though it now appears that Campbell could be offered to the St James’ Park club on a season long loan.
West Ham had also been interested in bringing Campbell to Upton Park earlier this month but manager Sam Allardyce has since ruled out the switch.
Campbell is known to want a long term future at the Emirates Stadium, though the club are open to allowing him to make a loan switch to gain more Premier League experience before he makes his way into Arsene Wenger’s first team plans.
However, it is also thought that it will take a sizeable fee to prize him away from north London, even on loan.
United struck up a good business rapport with Arsenal earlier this summer when selling Mathieu Debuchy to the London club. And while moves to AC Milan and Crystal Palace haven’t came off for Campbell he could be pushed into the direction of Newcastle again.
