Manchester United Rumour Roundup: Red Devils Make £55m Di Maria Bid, Vidal Alternative Found And Current Star Wants To Prove Himself

Saturday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Manchester United make £55m bid for Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria

The future of the Argentina international at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu remains in doubt as United close in on a £55m deal.

According to reports in the Daily Express, after Paris Saint-Germain announced di Maria was too expensive the Red Devils are looking to capitalise.

The 26-year-old is unsure about his future at Madrid following the summer arrival of both Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

United also have their eye on FC Barcelona midfielder Alex Song

The Daily Express also reports that the 13-time Premier League champions are eyeing up Song as an alternative to Arturo Vidal.

The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the Juventus ace for some time, but new manager Louis van Gaal is concerned about the Chile international’s fitness.

That is why the club have turned to Song, with the former Arsenal star out of favour at the Nou Camp currently.

Shinji Kagawa determined to prove himself in the 2014/15 season

It’s been a difficult two years at Old Trafford for the Japan international following a 2012 transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Despite possessing obvious talent Kagawa has struggled to make an impact on the starting XI, but is looking to channel those problems into improving over the next 12 months.

“When I look back, last season was tough. I will use that frustration as a trigger to express myself this season, challenging myself to do new things,” the attacking midfielder was quoted by the Daily Star.

Dortmund will not sell Red Devils target Marco Reus

Despite strong interest from Premier League outfits Arsenal, Liverpool and United, the Bundesliga club have said they will not sell Reus.

Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich revealed this week that the Germany international has a £19.8m release clause and this has alerted several sides.

“[We will] definitely try to keep him long term. Marco is not only a hugely important player for us because of his athletic performance, but also in his role as a poster boy,” Black and Yellows sporting director Michael Zorc was quoted by the Metro.

Club legend Gary Neville dubs Robbie Savage ‘railings’ during charity match

On Thursday a group from United’s famous Class of ’92 took on Salford City in a charity match and lost 5-1.

Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary and Phil Neville were among those taking part and the elder Neville brother dubbed Robbie Savage ‘railings,’ reports the Daily Mail.

This was because the former Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder was so poor that the ball just kept bouncing off him.
