The German is being heavily linked with a transfer this summer.
Borussia Dortmund have been left angered by rivals Bayern Munich after their chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke publicly about Marco Reus’ release clause.
“It’s common knowledge that he is a Borussia Dortmund player and that he has a release clause, which, rumour has it, is worth €25m (£19.8m),” Rummenigge told Bild.
This clause doesn’t come in effect until next summer, but with Reus worth far more than that in the current market Dortmund may be forced into accepting a reduced fee for the attacking midfielder this summer.
As the Daily Express reports this has alerted the interest of Arsenal and Liverpool, who are both keen on signing the 25-year-old.

Arsenal
Having paid the debt behind the Emirates Stadium off the Gunners are now in a position to start spending big on world-class performers – as shown by their acquisition of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the past 12 months for a combined fee of £77.4m.
However, with Sanchez having only just arrived in North London from FC Barcelona this summer there would be question marks over whether the team needs another attacker who operates in a similar way to the Chilean.
Both Reus and the new £35m man can play anywhere across the front line, although generally the former operates from the left and the latter prefers the right.
Currently manager Arsene Wenger is likely to go with a front four of Ozil, Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, with the option of dropping the France international in a more defensive approach.
Signing Reus would set things off kilter, with Giroud the man likely to be dropped to accommodate the Germany international.
Sanchez could then play as something of a false nine, flanked by the Dortmund ace and Walcott and Ozil in behind, although whether that is too many players who operate in a similar way is a concern.
Liverpool
The Reds meanwhile have a giant Luis Suarez shaped hole in their attack following the Uruguayan’s £75m switch to Barcelona.
So far manager Brendan Rodgers has been busy in the transfer market, but none of the seven new arrivals at Anfield will be able to fill the boots of Suarez just yet.
In fact that is a very difficult task, but of all the players in world football not many come as close as Reus would, with the forward having developed into a better goalscoring threat in recent times.
Last term the German netted 23 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions and could easily slot in as part of a three man attack for the Merseysiders alongside Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge.
This would probably see either new £25m signing Adam Lallana or Philippe Coutinho dropping to the bench, although with the club returning to the Champions League this season more of a rotation policy that sees everyone getting a chance is likely to be adopted in any case.
In conclusion, if Rodgers managed to sign Reus it would be the best thing the Northern Irishman could do to cushion the blow of losing Suarez.
