Following his side’s pre-season activity former Southampton manager Pochettino has declared that he has inherited “Too many players” and that he wanted a squad of “No more than 25”, leaving five players out in the cold.

Pochettino has already attempted to offload captain Micheal Dawson, with interest from Hull City being registered, and Belgian winger Nacer Chadli but many others could be set for the chop.

The wide-man had an average first season in north London and it was Pochettino’s intention to use the 24 year old as bait in pursuit of PSV Eindhoven youngster Memphis Depay but that move fell through.

Centre-back Younes Kaboul is another who could be sold following a poor, injury ravaged, campaign whilst full-backs Kyle Naughton and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are also named as possible members of what could prove an extensive cull.

It is believed that Pochettino will be encouraged to sell before he can buy having already brought in Swansea City duo Michel Vorm and Ben Davies as well as Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier.

Four midfielders are also named by this source as players Mauricio Pochettino could look to sell, the most surprising of which being Brazilian Paulinho.

The 26 year old had a very decent first season at White Hart Lane, netting seven goals 37 appearances in all competitions, before taking part in the World Cup finals.

Pochettino may be open to such a move thinking he could garner a big fee for his services.

Fellow Brazilian Sandro, French battler Etienne Capoue and Belgian powerhouse Mousa Dembélé also find themselves on the club’s clear-out list.
