Liverpool Rumour Roundup: New £20m Signing Is Perfect, Arsenal Want Reds Star And Luis Suarez Still At Anfield

The biggest stories from Anfield on Monday.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur preparing bids for Daniel Agger

The Liverpool defender has emerged a key target for the North London rivals having fallen down the pecking order at Anfield.

Agger is now behind Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel for a place in central defence and the Gunners want the 29-year-old as a replacement for recently sold captain Thomas Vermaelen, according to the Daily Express.

However, the Herts and Essex Observer say that new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino wants the Denmark international to bolster his own defence.

Yet Brendan Rodgers says he has received no bids for Agger

Despite the fact the centre-back is being strongly linked with a £12m departure, his boss says he has had no interest in the Dane.

“I saw some stories on Agger, but we haven’t had any enquiries,” Rodgers was quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“Daniel is still getting some work done on his knee. He’s been unfortunate since the tour of America, but we haven’t had anything, no offers.”

The £16m transfer of Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno to be completed on Wednesday

It has already been a busy summer of business for the Reds with the arrival of seven new players, but number eight is on his way.

According to the Mirror the 22-year-old will complete his £16m switch to Merseyside after playing in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday.

Moreno has been a target for the club for some time, but as yet no fee has been agreed for the Spain international.

Rodgers heaps praise on new £20m signing Lovren

After completing his move from Southampton the defender finally made his debut for his new club against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Lovren helped the Rodgers’ side complete a comprehensive 4-0 victory over the Bundesliga side and the Northern Irishman believes the 25-year-old is a great signing.

“Dejan was perfect – he’s what I’ve been looking for since Jamie Carragher left,” the 41-year-old was quoted by Goal.

Huge Luis Suarez picture still being displayed at the Kop

Despite completing a £75m transfer to FC Barcelona this summer it’s clear the Merseysiders haven’t quite accepted the loss of Suarez.

This is because an enormous image of the Uruguayan in the club’s new kit can still be seen emblazoned on the side of their iconic stand.
