It has been an extremely busy summer for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market so far, but the Northern Irishman is yet to secure the one genuinely world class star that he craves to help replace Luis Suarez.
There are a number of candidates that have been linked with a move to Anfield to fill that void, including these five world class stars:
Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Suarez’s international striker partner Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint Germain, with the Reds reportedly having enquired as to the player’s availability. Cavani would be a fine replacement for Suarez, having enjoyed a fine goalscoring record for both PSG and, previously, Serie A side Napoli.
Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
Despite having been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool’s fierce Premier League rivals Manchester United for most of the summer, some tentative links have also been made to suggest that Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal could join Liverpool. He would undoubtedly be a fine signing for the Reds – but they do already have Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho in attacking midfield.
Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)
Liverpool are also reportedly interested in Colombian striker Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco, with the former Atletico Madrid striker seemingly unsettled at the Ligue 1 side, who have already sold his international teammate James Rodriguez to Real Madrid this summer.
Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus is known as one of the finest attacking talents in Europe, and sparked interest from all over once news of his refusal to extend his contract broke. Liverpool, however, are one of the big European sides to be most strongly suggested as a potential destination for the German international.
Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint Germain)
As well as Cavani, Liverpool have also been linked with a summer swoop for another PSG forward – Argentina international Ezequiel Lavezzi. The hugely talented forward finds himself stuck behind Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes and could well be tempted away.
