Reports last week suggested that Spurs were lining up a £15.8m bid for the Netherlands World Cup star, but he has also been linked with a tantalising move to Manchester United.

PSV are said to be desperate to hang on to the wing ace, who still has another three years to run on his current deal, and have denied receiving any formal offers from any interested parties.

And the player himself has played down any speculation of a move by staying focussed on his side’s form ahead of the new league season, having scored in PSV’s 3-1 opening day victory over Willem II this weekend.

“This was a nice first game of the season. We have to learn from our mistakes, although I am happy with the three points,” the 20-year-old said.

“People have asked already hundred times about my future, so I don’t want to talk about it anymore. We will see, but for now I am a player from PSV.”

New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on luring the Dutchman to White Heart Lane in a bid to help the club return to the Champions League.
