Manchester United Rumour Roundup: Red Devils To Make Club Record £50m Bid And Updates In Juan Cuadrado And Arturo Vidal Transfers

Monday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Manchester United preparing £50m bid for Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria

The Red Devils are considering a club record bid for the Argentina international to bolster their squad.

According to the Daily Star following Paris Saint-Germain’s refusal to pay the required amount for the Madrid ace, United now have a free reign to sign the 26-year-old.

Di Maria’s future at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is uncertain following the signings of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez this summer.

Louis van Gaal looking at a trio of fellow Dutchmen to sign

The new manager has admitted that if there are Dutch players at the standard to play at Old Trafford he will look to sign them.

Van Gaal is of the belief that footballers from the Netherlands have usually been educated well and are often cheaper.

The London Evening Standard reports that the 63-year-old is keen on Daley Blind, Nigel de Jong and Kevin Strootman.

FC Barcelona looking to beat the Red Devils to Juan Cuadrado

Having signed Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal ahead of United on Saturday the Catalans are looking to do the same with Fiorentina’s Cuadrado, reports the Guardian.

Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta had admitted that more players could be arriving at the Nou Camp this summer and the Colombia international is a key target.

Van Gaal has also shown interest in Cuadrado as he believes the 26-year-old would slot perfectly into his new 3-5-2 formation.

Barca thank Vermaelen for turning down United in favour of them

The Belgium international was close to signing at the Theatre of Dreams before deciding a switch to La Liga would suit him better.

The 13-time Premier League champions were keen on signing Vermaelen to help cushion the blow of losing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic this summer, but the Catalonia side are thankful he didn’t.

“He had offers from one of the biggest clubs in world football and we appreciate the fact that he chose to come here instead,” Zubizarreta was quoted by the Daily Mail.

The £40m pursuit of Arturo Vidal will last until deadline day

Those hoping to see a conclusion to the saga involving the Juventus star are likely to be disappointed as things continue to rumble on.

Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich is said to be meeting with van Gaal this week, but with the Serie A champions unwilling to sell things aren’t likely to be settled quickly.

It’s thought that it will cost United around £40m if they want to sign the Chile international this summer, according to the Mirror.
