The Best Premier League XI Of 2014/15 With Arsenal And Manchester United Stars Prominent

The ultimate team made up of stars from the English top tier.

Ahead of the 2014/15 Premier League season CaughtOffside has decided to pick out the best XI of players currently plying their trade in the English top tier.

GK – Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea

Has returned to Stamford Bridge this summer following three years of success on-loan with Atletico Madrid during which time Courtois was named La Liga Goalkeeper of the Year twice.

Still only 22-years-old the Belgium international is considered to be among the best stoppers on the planet and in our minds is the best in England.

RB – Seamus Coleman, Everton

This was a tough call with Cesar Azpilicueta and Pablo Zabaleta also challenging, but the fact that Coleman is a confirmed starter and those two aren’t means the Irishman takes the spot.

Plus the form of the right-back last term saw the 25-year-old named in the PFA Team of the Year.

CB – Vincent Kompany, Manchester City

The Citizens captain and to many one of the finest centre-backs in world football due to Kompany’s presence and assured performances.

The 28-year-old will be expected to lead by example once again as City try and defend their title once more – something they failed to do in 2012/13.

CB – Laurent Koscielny, Arsenal

Many may be calling for Gary Cahill to take this spot, but we believe that Koscielny is the superior option despite the fact his team weren’t as defensively resolute as the Blues last campaign.

What the France international lacks in physical presence he more than makes up for with his technical skill and calmness on the ball.

LB – Leighton Baines, Everton

Another Toffees star at left-back as their defence is particularly strong and Baines just beats off the challenges of new signing Filipe Luis for this position.

The 29-year-old may not have had the best 2014 World Cup, but in the league there have been few better than the Englishman over the past few years.

CM – Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal

Some may argue that one good season doesn’t make a player and whilst that may be true, Ramsey does not seem to simply be a one-hit wonder.

The 23-year-old has put previous inconsistency behind him to be one of the most potent midfielders in European football and looks set to improve from hereon in.

CM – Yaya Toure, Manchester City

Not only is Toure one of the best players in the league to many he is the very best player now that Luis Suarez has been sold to FC Barcelona.

Last term no midfielder scored more than the 31-year-old with the Ivorian’s 20 strikes helping his team to a second league title in three years.

CM – Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea

A new signing now and someone who walks straight into the team courtesy largely of the fact he performed so well during his eight previous years in English football with the Gunners.

Still only 27-years-old Fabregas has returned to London after three years with Barca to bolster a Jose Mourinho team that looks stronger than ever.

CAM – Eden Hazard, Chelsea

For his displays since joining the West Londoners from Lille in 2012 the 23-year-old has to be included, with two PFA Player of the Year nominations having come during his time in England.

Hazard wants to be a Ballon d’Or winner in the future and if the Belgian continues improving at his rapid current rate that doesn’t seem like an unrealistic prospect.

ST – Robin van Persie, Manchester United

Our first and only Red Devils star with their previous 12 months of woes making the team into something of a laughing stock and greatly reducing their reputation.

However, there is no doubting that van Persie has world-class ability and under new manager Louis van Gaal will be looking to show that again over the coming year.

ST – Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Partnering the Netherlands international in attack is a 26-year-old who spent much of the last season sidelined with injury.

Despite that Aguero managed to net an impressive 17 league goals in just 23 appearances and the Argentine will be key to any success Manuel Pellegrini’s men have.
