Liverpool’s Remaining Five-Man Transfer Shortlist Including Marco Reus And Former Chelsea Star

Rodgers admits there is still more business to be done.

Despite having already secured seven new players this summer Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that he wants to conduct more transfer business before the window closes.

“We would still like to do some business,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.

“Across the board we still want to add a little bit more depth to what we have.”

So here is a five-man shortlist of the players that the Reds still have their eye on.

Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund

This may be a long shot, but the future of the Germany international has been plunged into doubt due to his well documented release clause.

As Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich revealed, as of next summer Reus can be signed for just £19.8m and therefore he could be sold this year at a slightly higher fee than that.

Reus would serve as a great option to cushion the blow of losing Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona.

Alberto Moreno, Sevilla

This has been an ongoing saga with the Merseysiders clearly keen on signing the left-back, but failing to reach an agreement with his current club.

With Jose Enrique having been injured for large parts of the past 12 months Rodgers would like another left-sided defender and views this 22-year-old as the perfect choice.

Ezequiel Lavezzi, Paris Saint-Germain

It’s a long shot as the Argentine seems happy to stay at the Parc des Princes, but with such competition for places with the Ligue 1 champions there is always a chance Lavezzi could leave.

With the ability to play on either flank the 29-year-old would be a useful addition in attack alongside Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge.

Samuel Eto’o, Unattached

This would be one of the more surprising deals of the summer with Eto’o hardly having set the Premier League on fire with his previous 12 months with Chelsea.

That being said Rodgers is on the lookout for a new striker to compete with Sturridge, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert and the 33-year-old has huge amounts of experience at the very top.

Marcos Rojo, Sporting Lisbon

With Daniel Agger being strongly linked with a move away from Anfield signing a defender who can play both centrally and on the left could well be the perfect replacement.

Rojo impressed many with his performances at left-back for Argentina at the 2014 World Cup, but for his club Sporting the 24-year-old operates as a centre-back.
