Manchester United Rumour Roundup: Red Devils To Beat Arsenal To £29.5m Target, Netherlands International Wants To Join The Club And Tablet Ban

The biggest stories from Tuesday involving the Red Devils.

Manchester United to beat Arsenal to the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels

The Red Devils are ready to challenge the interest of the Gunners for the Germany international and land him themselves.

Reports in German daily Bild state that after missing out to FC Barcelona in the pursuit of Thomas Vermaelen, United have instead turned their attention to Hummels.

It’s thought it would take a bid of around £29.5m to tempt Dortmund into selling though.

Chelsea to beat the Red Devils to signing of Mehdi Benatia from AS Roma

However, whilst a deal for Hummels looks to be drawing closer, the Blues will beat their Premier League rivals to Benatia.

According to the Daily Star the West Londoners are hoping to tie up a £30m deal for the 27-year-old before the 2014/15 season starts.

United have previously shown interest in Benatia, who is unsettled in the Italian capital following contract disputes.

Marouane Fellaini’s transfer to Napoli moves closer

The Belgium international is set to end his Old Trafford nightmare as the Serie A club close in on a deal for the midfielder, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Fellaini has been deemed surplus to requirements with the 13-time Premier League champions by new manager Louis van Gaal and the Dutchman is prepared to let the 26-year-old leave on-loan.

As yet though Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis and the Red Devils have failed to reach an agreement over how much of the Belgian’s wages the Italian club should pay.

Daley Blind admits he would like to join van Gaal’s team

The Ajax defender has given renewed hope to United’s pursuit of signing him by speaking out about his future in the Eredivisie.

Van Gaal has worked with Blind for the past two years with the Netherlands national team and thinks the 24-year-old would be a good option with his ability to play at left-back, in central defence, or defensive midfield.

“I am happy here in Amsterdam. But if there comes another club I will have to think about it and then we will see. I will think about my options,” Blind was quoted by the Guardian.

Fans banned from taking tablet devices into Old Trafford

The club have decided to band supporters from bringing tablet devices into the ground on match days due to the annoyance it causes to those around them, reports the Daily Mail.

Currently there is a trend for fans to film the action using the technology, which often blocks the view of those sitting behind them.

In 2010 the New York Yankees initiated a similar ban, although were forced to reverse their decision two years later.
