Top Ten Best Selling Shirt Names For 2013/14 Revealed: Man United Star Trumps Reds And Gunners Heroes

The ten best selling shirt names on the 2013/14 Premier League season.

Now the Premier League enjoys an unadulterated, never ceasing global success, it’s inevitable that when it comes to putting names on merchandise certain names will be more popular than others. Everybody has a favourite Premier League star, whether it be somebody they simply admire, to someone that they wish to emulate, we all have a name in mind that we’d place above all the others. Last season’s results yield no particular shocks, but below are the top ten names that we put on out football shirts last season.

10. Frank Lampard – Chelsea

Relieved that he’d been given an extra year at Stamford Bridge, Blues fans flocked to put the club’s all time leading goalscorer’s name on their backs.

9. Shinji Kagawa – Manchester United

Perhaps the biggest shock of the list, the Japanese international creeps into the top ten despite suffering a second successive disappointing campaign.

8. Juan Mata – Chelsea And Manchester United

The Spaniard boosted his sales on two fronts. First by being named as Chelsea’s Player of the Season and then again upon signing for United when he’d been frozen out by Jose Mourinho.

7. Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

The Argentine striker proved popular as he helped fire City to their second Premier League title, despite missing much of the campaign through injury.

6. Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

Rooney would have no doubt proved more popular had his future not been in doubt at the beginning of last season, though a recovery in numbers this term is expected.

5. Mesut Ozil – Arsenal

The German international was a surprise signing for the Gunners, who capitalised on his acquisition to boost their sales. However, he’ll surely have some competition this term following their latest arrival.

4. Eden Hazard – Chelsea

The Belgian emerged as the Blues most popular seller, and could likely claim the crown again this season.

3. Luis Suarez – Liverpool

Suarez’s numbers took a beating thanks to his early season ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic, but he made a late resurgence due to his form in front of goal.

2. Steven Gerrard – Liverpool

The Reds skipper continues to be a popular name for both club and country. However, following his international retirement he will be wracking up the club sales until old age!

1. Robin Van Persie – Manchester United

The Dutchman sadly couldn’t follow up his good form of the previous campaign, but now that Louis Van Gaal is in charge expect him to soar in popularity once again.
