Manchester United Ready To Spend £83m On Three-Man Shortlist Including Real Madrid Star Angel Di Maria

The Red Devils are eyeing up a triple swoop for di Maria, Blind and Rojo.

In a bid to improve his Manchester United squad new manager Louis van Gaal is ready to sanction £83m of spending on three players, reports the Daily Mail.

Chief executive Ed Woodward has already declared that the Red Devils have the capabilities to break the world transfer record and whilst that is unlikely currently, they are still looking to spend big.

Here is their three-man shortlist.

Daley Blind, Ajax

Van Gaal is a known admirer of this 24-year-old having worked with him for the past two years with the Netherlands national team and it’s thought a bid of £15m would be enough to land him.

Blind is an attractive prospect due to his versatility, with the Dutchman able to play at left-back, in central defence, or defensive midfield.

The player has also admitted that he would consider leaving the Amsterdam ArenA this summer if the right offer came along and is sure to be tempted by a reunion with van Gaal.

Angel di Maria, Real Madrid

This Argentine has long been on the wishlist of United, with the 26-year-old’s future at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in doubt currently.

That is because Los Blancos have signed both Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez this summer and it has left di Maria somewhat on the periphery of the first team.

Paris Saint-Germain have already dropped out of the race to sign the South American claiming he is too expensive, with the 13-time Premier League champions having to break their club record fee if they want him with a £50m valuation around his neck.

Marcos Rojo, Sporting Lisbon

Despite interest from both Chelsea and Southampton in recent times, it is the  Red Devils that have now turned their attention towards this Argentina international.

That is because they have seen fellow defensive targets Thomas Vermaelen and Mats Hummels slip through their fingers in recent times and now Rojo looks like the ideal purchase.

The 24-year-old is understood to have handed a transfer request in at Sporting to try and engineer a move away, but the Primeira Liga club are still holding out for £18m for the defender.
