Three of the world’s best players on way to Emirates Stadium?
Arsenal are ready to sign three of the world’s biggest name footballers before the end of the transfer window, according to the Metro, who claim Sami Khedira, Marco Reus and Edinson Cavani could be on their way to Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have made a big statement this summer already, bringing in David Ospina, Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy and Alexis Sanchez, while keeping all their big name stars except for club captain Thomas Vermaelen, who departed for FC Barcelona upon finding himself surplus to requirements.
Cavani is reportedly available for around £51 million, with Paris Saint-Germain keen to acquire the money to fund a big move for Angel Di Maria of Real Madrid, while Marco Reus has a release clause of £28 million at Borussia Dortmund – far below his estimated value.
Real Madrid are thought to be keen to offload Sami Khedira this summer as the German’s contract expires in a year’s time. The World Cup winner is surplus to requirements at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Meringues would like to sell for a token transfer fee rather than lose him on a free next summer.
Still, while a front six of Khedira, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Alexis, Reus and Cavani is comparable to any in world football, it is hard to imagine Arsene Wenger splurging a further £90m before the September 1st deadline.
