The Premier League season is rapidly approaching, and the big kick-off is only a couple of days away. Many of you will therefore be mulling over you’re Fantasy Football XI’s.

With that in mind, take a look at this dream team – comprising the most expensive players in the game. While Premier League restrictions prevent us from spending £103.5m on just eleven players, it’s interest to consider how this impossible team would get on.

Flick through the pages below and find out who the Premier League rates so highly:

GK) Thiabut Courtois (Chelsea, £6m)

The Chelsea goalkeeper will set you back £6m, making him the most expensive stopper alongside teammate Petr Cech and Manchester City’s Joe Hart. The former Atletico Madrid star has been selected by 7.9% of players thus far.

RCB) Seamus Coleman (Everton, £7m)

The Everton defender scored 180 points last season, and has been selected by 9.9% of players again this season. A slight hamstring issue means that the Irishman could miss the Toffee’s opening game.

CB) Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea, £7m)

The versatile Chelsea man picked up 159 points last year, and will set you back more than either Gary Cahill or John Terry if you want him again this year. Only 7.5% of players have picked him so far.

LCB) Leighton Baines (Everton, £7m)

The goal-scoring full-back has once again proved a popular choice, with the England man making the cut for 17.5% of players. He scored an impressive 169 points last season.

CM) Yaya Toure (Manchester City, £11m)

The game’s most expensive midfield player scored a hugely impressive 241 points last season, and will understandably set you back a hefty price. Nonetheless, one in five players have given up £11m to sign the Ivorian.

CM) Steven Gerrard (Liverpool, £9m)

The Liverpool skipper scored 205 points last season, and has been picked up by 7.2% of players for the new campaign. Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, David Silva, Theo Walcott and Juan Mata are all available for the same price.

RM) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal, £10.5m)

Arsenal’s new star has come straight in with a killer price tag, but 21.8% of players – a higher percentage that Toure – have taken the chance of the Premier League debutant, who has impressed for Barcelona and Udinese in the past.

LM) Eden Hazard (Chelsea, £10.0m)

Chelsea’s star man has also proved a popular choice, with 21.1% of players going for the skillful Belgian. Hazard scored 202 points last season, and will likely reward those who have chosen him again this year.

RF) Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool, £11.5m)

Liverpool’s new main man following the departure of Luis Suarez has been elevated to the third most expensive player in the game. After scoring 197 points last season he has proved a popular choice for 29.7% of players.

ST) Robin van Persie (Manchester United, £12.5m)

The game’s most expensive player, despite scoring just 112 points last season. Many fans clearly have the same concerns, with RVP picked by just 4.5% of players so far, with many seemingly unwilling or unable to pay the huge price tag.

LF) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City, £12.0m)

Another surprisingly unpopular choice – with his selection percentage of just 5.7 probably caused by his nagging injury troubles and a poor World Cup showing. The Argentine scored 156 points last season.
