Mauricio Pochettino takes charge of his first official game as Tottenham Hotspur boss on Saturday.

Spurs travel east to face London rivals West Ham United at Upton Park.

We have come up with the starting XI that we reckon Pochettino is likely to go with.

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

Despite the arrival of Michel Vorm from Swansea City, France skipper Lloris remains first choice and he will almost certainly start.

Right-back: Kyle Naughton

With Kyle Walker still not over the pelvic problem that ruled him out of the World Cup, Naughton will be deployed at right full-back. He will be expected to get forward and provide extra width to Tottenham’s attacks.

Left-back: Danny Rose

Pochettino may well see Ben Davies as his top left-back in the medium to long-term. However, the former Southampton boss will probably go with Rose against the Hammers, before breaking Davies in slowly.

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul

With the luxury of a full preseason under his belt, Kaboul should start. He has the necessary pace and confidence to thrive if Pochettino opts to set his team up with a high defensive line.

Centre-back: Eric Dier

Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches are both expected to miss out through injury, while main man Jan Vertonghen has not played any part in Tottenham’s preseason fixtures. Therefore, a senior debut for Dier looks like a distinct possibility. The 20-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Spurs beat Schalke in a friendly last weekend. He looked solid and composed.

Central midfield: Sandro

Sandro fell out of favour under former boss Tim Sherwood, but Pochettino should restore him to the first XI. The Brazilian has the ability to dominate the midfield battle.

Central midfield: Lewis Holtby

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, who suffered relegation. However, Holtby remains highly thought of and he has enjoyed a fine preseason, playing in all five friendlies and scoring two goals.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen won Tottenham’s Player of the Year award last season. The star man will operate as part of a three-man attacking midfield unit.

Attacking midfield: Aaron Lennon

Lennon should get the nod over Andros Townsend. He is one of Tottenham’s longest-serving players, so the hot atmosphere at Upton Park won’t overwhelm him. Furthermore, Lennon is an incredibly hardworking player who won’t mind helping Naughton out defensively on the right flank when needed.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela

Lamela was foolishly written off by some fans following his disappointing debut campaign in England. However, the club’s record signing is now over his injury troubles and looks set to play a starring role under Pochettino, starting Saturday.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

With Pochettino favouring a 4-2-3-1 formation, it looks like a three-way battle between Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane for Tottenham’s frontman role. Adebayor, who impressed from the start in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Schalke, should get the nod. His physical prowess makes him the ideal man to lead the line away from home.
