Arsenal have edged towards closing a deal to sign Edinson Cavani as Paris Saint Germain enter advanced talks with long term target Angel Di Maria, according to the Metro.

The Gunners’ interest in Cavani was revealed earlier this week with Arsene Wenger said to be considering making a £51million bid for his services.
PSG are willing to part with the player in an effort to balance their books, but the French champions are known to be keen on filling the void left by the former Napoli man with Di Maria.
RTL claims that the Parisians have resurrected a move for the Argentine international and will free up the space in their squad by allowing Cavani to make the move to the Emirates.
In his press conference on Friday, Wenger said that he was not afraid to spend money on the right players, and should he press ahead with a move for Cavani he could well be forced to splash out his biggest sum yet.
Cavani is also a target for Liverpool and Manchester United.
