United surely set to go transfer crazy after opening day loss…
Man United lost their opening game of the season to Swansea this Saturday, and new boss Louis van Gaal hinted that transfers can be completed very easily.
Here’s five stars United could snap up before the close of the transfer window…
5) Angel di Maria
The world-class winger is still a key United target, and the only question will be whether United could tempt Di Maria to move to England instead of France, with PSG heavily interested.
4) Marcos Rojo
Rojo is the most likely to arrive, having refused to train with Sporting Lisbon as a result of United’s interest. He started for Argentina at the World Cup, and suits United perfectly because he can play on the left of the three man defence in a 3-5-2, or in the left wing-back role.
3) Daley Blind
van Gaal rates Blind highly, deploying him at either left wing-back or in holding midfield for the Dutch national side. United badly need cover in both these positions, and the Ajax man would seem like the perfect utility signing.
2) Juan Cuadrado
Another versatile player, Cuadrado can play at right-back, but last season with Fiorentina, truly came into his own as a flying winger out on the left. He can dribble, create and shoot – and would give United an extra attacking dimension and the chance to play more natural 4-3-3 formations.
1) Alex Song
Linked mainly with Liverpool in recent days, the Barcelona man is exactly what united need. He’s powerful, can maintain possession, and is available for a good price because he’s surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.
