Boost for Reds in pursuit of Dortmund star

Liverpool have been boosted in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, with reports that Atletico Madrid have dropped out of the running for the German international.

Goal.com reports that Atletico are not looking to sign Reus, despoite recent rumours that the Spanish champions were closing in on a deal for the 25-year-old.

This should now spark interest from Arsenal as well as Liverpool, with Reus being one of the most sought after talents in the game for much of the last year or so.

Liverpool consider move for ex-Chelsea striker

Liverpool are still considering a move for former Chelsea striker and free agent Samuel Eto’o to solve their problems upfront, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Cameroon international is also being tracked by Merseyside rivals Everton and Eredivisie giants Ajax, having failed to win an extension to his stay at Stamford Bridge after spending last year with the club.

Liverpool fans may be slightly disappointed with the club targeting Eto’o as an alternative to Falcao or Cavani, but he may be a smart signing on a free transfer if he does move to Anfield.

Liverpool close in on former Arsenal star

Liverpool are said to be ‘hours away’ from signing Barcelona and former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, according to reports in the Metro.

The 26-year-old has struggled to make any impact at the Nou Camp since leaving the Gunners back in 2012, and now looks likely to be heading back to the Premier League.

The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with Song this summer, though it is now thought that Liverpool could be in direct competition with Galatasaray for his signature.

Former Reds winger set for Stoke loan move

Former Liverpool winger Victor Moses looks close to sealing a move to join Stoke City on a season-long loan from Chelsea, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Nigerian international had an underwhelming spell at Anfield last season in another loan move, having also failed to command a regular place in the Chelsea side since joining the club from Wigan Athletic in 2012.

Liverpool chose not to sign Moses permanently after his spell on Merseyside, and he now looks set to move to Stoke for 2014/15.
