10 South American Stars Who Could Sign For Premier League Clubs This Summer, Including Arsenal & Liverpool Targets

Top South American talents wanted by English clubs.

10) Fredy Guarin (Inter Milan)

Reportedly a top target for both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Fredy Guarin could be heading for the Inter Milan exit this summer and heading to the Premier League. The Colombian international is a well-rounded box-to-box midfield player with an eye for the occasional spectacular goal, and would make a great signing for most top clubs around Europe. It remains to be seen if there will be time for a deal to be struck before the end of the summer, but Guarin would make a great addition to English football if he does move.

9) Douglas Costa (Shakhtar Donetsk)

A skillful Brazilian winger, Douglas Costa has come onto Arsenal‘s radar recently after going AWOL in France during Shakhtar Donetsks’s pre-season tour. The 23-year-old is an exciting talent who would certainly add plenty to the Gunners’ attack, and his ability to play in a number of different attacking positions will no doubt appeal to Arsene Wenger.

8) Dani Alves (Barcelona)

Recently linked with Liverpool, Barcelona star Dani Alves could possibly be on his way out of the Nou Camp this summer after a long association with the Catalan giants. The experienced Brazil international may no longer be first choice under new manager Luis Enrique as he rings the changes to this Barca squad, and this has alerted the Reds to his potential availability. One of the best attacking full-backs in the game in recent times, it would be great to see Alves make the move to England this summer.

7) Juan Fernando Quintero (Porto)

One of South America’s great up-and-coming talents, Juan Fernando Quintero has recently found himself linked with a move to Arsenal. The Colombian international, currently of Porto, impressed for his national side at this summer’s World Cup and may now be ready for a move to a more competitive league. Still only 21 years of age, this versatile attacking midfielder would fit in nicely into Arsenal’s style of play and could set the Premier League alight if he achieves his full potential.

6) Jackson Martinez (Porto)

Another South American star currently on the books at Portuguese giants Porto, Jackson Martinez has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs in recent times after establishing himself as a lethal goalscorer for his club. The 27-year-old has mainly been linked with Arsenal this summer, though the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have also shown an interest in securing his services in the past.

5) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)

Another of this superb generation of Colombian players, Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after talents in Europe at the moment after his recent displays in Serie A and at this summer’s World Cup. The 26-year-old winger is a terrific dribbler with bags of skill and an eye for goal, and his fine form has seen him become one of Manchester United’s main targets in this transfer window, though Chelsea and Barcelona could also provide competition for his signature. A potentially world class talent who could no doubt make a big impact in the Premier League if he does make his way to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.

4) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is currently being strongly linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool. The Uruguayan international could be the ideal candidate to replace his fellow countryman Luis Suarez at Anfield, and would mark a hugely ambitious signing for either of these two clubs. Despite a slight dip in form since joining PSG from Napoli last summer, Cavani remains a world class centre-forward, and he would be very welcome in the Premier League.

3) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

Despite rumoured preference for a loan move to Real Madrid, Radamel Falcao has also become a top target for Liverpool this summer in what could be another hugely exciting move in the Premier League transfer market. The Colombian international, 28, first attracted interest from English sides last summer after his superb form for Atletico Madrid, but he then opted for a big-money move to AS Monaco instead. Still, the player now wants out of Ligue 1 and he could certainly do with playing in a more competitive league such as the Premier League.

2) Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

Known to be a top target for Manchester United, Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria‘s future remains uncertain as we head towards the end of the transfer window. Although Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that the Argentine is not for sale, he may no longer be first choice at the Bernabeu after the club spent heavily on another South American star in James Rodriguez. Still, United will no doubt have to spend big to sign the talented 26-year-old, who was one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe last season.

1) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Another world class South American talent who could be heading to Manchester United before the end of the summer, Arturo Vidal of Juventus could be lining up at Old Trafford this season if Louis van Gaal gets his way. The Chilean international has been one of the stars of Serie A in recent times, helping Juve to three consecutive titles since he joined the club back in 2011. A great all-rounder, it is no surprise to see that United want him to improve their midfield options, and he would make one of the most exciting signings of the summer alongside his Chilean team-mate Alexis Sanchez, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona earlier in this transfer window.
