AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao still remains a surprise target for Liverpool
Despite wanting to join Real Madrid, Falcao remains a transfer target for the Reds and Manchester City, according to the Daily Mail.
With Los Blancos having already spent £90m on new players this summer they cannot afford the Colombia international as well and their offer of a loan deal has been rejected by Monaco.
This leaves the Premier League duo leading the race, with the 28-year-old keen to leave Ligue 1 after just one season.
Brendan Rodgers tells Raheem Sterling he has to wait for a pay rise
Despite having had a brilliant previous 12 months on Merseyside the manager has told youngster Sterling to be patient.
The 19-year-old is only 18 months into his current £35,000-a-week deal and Rodgers says that won’t be increased anytime soon.
“When you reward young players too quickly – Raheem’s still only 19 – you give them too much too early and that will be their downfall,” the 41-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.
Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o wants to join Arsenal rather than the Reds
Although Eto’o has been heavily linked with moves to both Anfield and Ajax, it’s the Gunners that the 33-year-old wants to join.
According to the Mirror the ex-Blues forward is desperate to play under the guidance of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.
This will leave Rodgers having to look elsewhere for recruitment in attack.
Atletico Madrid close in on Daniel Agger
It looks as if the defender’s time with the Merseysiders has finally come to an end as Atleti look to land the Dane in a £12m deal, according to the Sun.
The future of Agger with Rodgers’ men has been in doubt for some time following the summer arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
The 29-year-old is now behind Lovren, Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho for a place in the starting XI and is keen to leave the club.
Tiago Ilori set to join Bordeaux on-loan
Another centre-back who is ready to leave the Reds is Ilori, who looks set for Ligue 1 as Bordeaux close in on a loan move.
The Mirror reports that the 21-year-old will leave Anfield once again in order to gain more first team experience.
Ilori joined from Sporting Lisbon last summer and spent the latter part of the campaign on-loan with Granada.
