Liverpool Draw Up Plan A, B and C Striker Target Short-List as Brendan Rodgers Continues Search for Luis Suarez Replacement

Anfield boss draws up last minute transfer plans.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is hot on the heels of a crucially needed striker signing and according to German source Bild the Northern Irishman has identified three players he wishes to land.

Luis Suarez left in a £75m move to Barcelona and thus far the only striker Rodgers has brought in, who hasn’t been loaned out again, is Southampton veteran Rickie Lambert.

Loic Remy had looked likely to make the move to Anfield but the move collapsed and with two weeks to go until the transfer window closes Rodgers has publicly stated his intention to sign another marksman, stating;

“I do still think we need another striker,”

“It is something that we will look at but that will depend on the availability of one.”

“So we will search for that through to the end of the window”

Plan C – Samuel Eto’o (Free Agent)

At 33 years of age the Cameroon international is clearly not a long term solution to the lack of goal machine Luis Suarez but he would cost the club nothing.

Eto’o is a proven goal-scorer and his tally of nine goals in 16 Premier League starts last term suggests he is able to still make an impact at the highest level.

One potential obstacle could come in the form of his massive wage demands.

Plan B – Edinson Cavani (PSG)

The Uruguayan would be an ideal option to replace his fellow countryman though one has to wonder just how likely such a deal would be.

Any successful move from Liverpool would have to entail the Anfield side registering a club record bid and remember Brendan Rodgers has already invested around £100m in his squad, so is a £50m bid at this juncture even a possibility?

Plan A – Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

The 28 year old is now said to be Liverpool’s top target and it’s entirely plausible that the Ligue 1 side may look to offload the Colombian for fear of not adhering to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

A loan move has been mooted though the player’s £200k a week salary demands would surely be an issue.

Falcao has scored goals wherever he’s done, netting 142 goals in four seasons spent in Portugal and Spain before his move to the Stade Louis II last summer.
