Curtis Davies – Hull City
Davies, 29, was, arguably, the best English centre-back in the Premier League last season, but he was still overlooked by Roy Hodgson when it came to his World Cup squad.
Eric Dier – Tottenham Hotspur
The Cheltenham-born 20-year-old has lived in Portugal for much of his life, but he has opted to represent England. He has played for the Three Lions at Under-21 level, but if his Tottenham debut is a sign of things to come, he will surely get a chance in the senior team before too long. He can play at centre-half, full-back or in midfield.
Ravel Morrison – West Ham United
The 21-year-old former Manchester United man is certainly troubled off the pitch, but he is an incredibly talented young midfielder with immense potential.
Tony Hibbert – Everton
Not the most glamorous right-back in the Premier League, but very solid and consistent. Many would argue that he is a safer bet than Glen Johnson or Kyle Walker for England.
Connor Wickham – Sunderland
Wickham, 21, was one of the main reasons Sunderland stayed in the Premier League last season. He has the physical and technical attributes to become a brillint target man.
Kevin Nolan – West Ham United
Nolan is now 32 and his hopes of a senior international career appear to be over, unless he goes down the Irish or Scottish granddad route. He is so much better than many midfielders who have been given a chance at his expense though.
Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur
Kane made a big impact at White Hart Lane towards the end of last season, scoring three goals in Tottenham’s last six games. The 21-year-old striker recently signed a five-year contract with Spurs.
James Ward-Prowse – Southampton
Ward-Prowse looks set to be one of Southampton’s key men this season. The 19-year-old midfielder has a great passing range and the curve and whip on his set-pieces are magnificent.
Calum Chambers – Arsenal
Generally thought of as a right-back during his time at Southampton, but the 19-year-old, who cost the Gunners £16m this summer, is also comfortable in central defence or midfield. He is a real classy player, who could soon be just as important to Arsenal as fellow former Saints stars Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
