5. Robbie Fowler – 31 goals in his first 50 games

‘God’, as he is affectionately known, bust on to the scene as a youngster at the birth of the Premier League and first acted as back up to Ian Rush. His first season yielded an impressive return of 18 goals in 34 appearances as he gradually became a bigger part of the first team picture. However, it wasn’t until his second season where he really flourished, notching up 31 strikes in 57 games. He added 13 goals in a terrific early season burst and quickly made it up to 31 goals by the time of his 50th appearance.

4. Kenny Dalglish – 31 goals in his first 50 games

Like Fowler, King Kenny scored the same amount of goals in his first 50 games, but where he differs from his younger charge is he tallied up all of hi goals in his first season. Already an established goal machine during his time at Celtic, the Scottish international wasted no time in taking to football south of the border and clocked up over 30 goals in a single season. Of course, this was back when top flight teams played 42 league games and possibly up to 20 domestic cup games all being well.

3. Fernando Torres – 34 goals in his first 50 games

The Spaniard was one of the world’s hottest properties when he joined from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007 and he lived up to the billing immediately. Where Liverpool’s domestic cup campaigns suffered, their European form took flight and he wracked up six goals in 11 games on the continent. However, it was the Premier League that had the biggest reason to be fearful, as his first season saw him bag 24 goals in just 33 appearances, which he of course topped up in the remaining four games of the following campaign.

2. Daniel Sturridge – 36 goals in his first 50 games

The man himself only arrived at Anfield 18 months ago with question marks hanging over his attitude as well sa his ability to actually play as a striker, as he was often seen as more of a winger. However, he put those fears to bed with a terrific end of season flourish of 11 goals in 16 games immediately following his move from Chelsea, and then followed it up with a prolific display last term. Already of the mark this season, he could reach a century in no time.

1. George Allan – 41 goals in his first 50 games

Another Scottish striker that strengthens the bond between the country and the club, Allan arrived at Anfield in 1895 from Leith Athletic where he quickly set about notching 41 goals in just 49 games before heading back up north of the border to Celtic just two short years later. After spending some time in Glasgow, he returned to Liverpool for a second spell, which was unfortunately cut short when he passed away in 1899 at the age of 24 after contracting tuberculosis.
