Newly promoted Leicester City made headlines yesterday, when it was suggested by several respected journalists that they were stepping up their efforts to sign Esteban Cambiasso.

The 34-year-old Argentinian midfielder is currently a free agent after a decade of service for Inter Milan, in which he played over 300 league games. The former Real Madrid and River Plate star would undoubtedly be a huge coup for Nigel Pearson’s side.

But, he’d be far from the only veteran starring in the Premier League during the 2014-15 season, here are ten other great aging stars to look out for, all of whom were 32 or older at the start of this season:

10) Brad Friedel (Tottenham, 43)

The Tottenham veteran might be down to third choice goalkeeper at White Hart Lane, but at 43-years-old he is still doing remarkably well to be of Premier League quality. The former Liverpool, Blackburn and Aston Villa man can still do a job when called upon.

9) Phil Jagielka (Everton, 32)

Something of a late bloomer, having only made his Premier League debut at the age of 24 with Sheffield United, before moving to Everton in 2007 and earning an England call-up a year later. Still has a couple of good years left at this level.

8) Rickie Lambert (Liverpool, 32)

The former Southampton striker had already hit 30 by the time he belatedly made his Premier League debut. Having now fulfilled his childhood dream of playing for Liverpool and England, he will be eager to push on.

7) Tim Howard (Everton, 35)

The American goalkeeper had to wait until the age of 27 to truly get his chance in the Premier League. After being ditched by Manchester United, he found a home at Everton, and has since become one of the league’s most consistent stoppers.

6) Didier Drogba (Chelsea, 36)

The towering Ivorian centre forward may have seen his best years come and go. But, back at Chelsea after two years away, the Stamford Bridge icon knows he is still more than capable of making an impact.

5) Martín Demichelis (Manchester City, 33)

The Argentine defender was widely mocked for his poor performances when he first joined City last summer. However, he steadily improved under Manuel Pellegrini, before enjoying an excellent World Cup with his country.

4) John Terry (Chelsea, 33)

The legendary Chelsea captain, who has been with the club since 1995 as a youth player, has made in excess of 400 Premier League appearances for the club – winning both domestic and European honours.

3) Steven Gerrard (Liverpool, 34)

The iconic Liverpool captain is undoubtedly one of the finest players in the club’s history, and was the inspiration behind the club’s 2005 Champions League triumph. A Premier League winner’s medal is the only thing missing from his collection.

2) Rio Ferdiand (Queens Park Rangers, 35)

The former England skipper ended a 12 year association with Manchester United this summer when he joined QPR on a free transfer. Cost the Red Devils around £30m from Leeds United in 2002, breaking the British transfer record at the time.

1) Frank Lampard (Manchester City, 36)

Frank Lampard spent 13 years at Chelsea, becoming their all time leading goalscorer while leading them to multiple successes. Returns to the Premier League with Manchester City for the first-half of this season, on loan from MLS side New York City.
