Ten Long-Running Transfer Sagas That Look Close To Completion, Featuring Balotelli To Liverpool & Khedira To Arsenal

Transfer window latest – ten sagas nearing an end

Read the latest Liverpool Balotelli transfer news.

10) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)

Interested clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona

One of the most in-demand wingers in the game at the moment, Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado has been making the headlines for much of the summer after attracting the interests of so many top clubs all around Europe. It is still no clearer where the talented Colombian will be playing his football next season, though with United set to splash out on signing Angel Di Maria, it seems unlikely that they could afford Cuadrado as well. Meanwhile, Chelsea don’t particularly need him, with rumours that Andre Schurrle could leave dying down in the last few days.

Most likely: Barcelona

9) Mehdi Benatia (AS Roma)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United

Another star of Serie A, AS Roma defender Mehdi Benatia continues to be linked with a number of Europe’s elite clubs going into the final weeks of the transfer window. Arsenal are the latest club to show an interest, though a move to Manchester United would probably make the most sense at the moment given their desperate need for new signings in the centre of defence, even if Marcos Rojo has been brought in to fill that gap slightly.

Most likely: Manchester United

8) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Interested clubs: Manchester United

Linked with United all summer long, things look no closer to happening in terms of Arturo Vidal leaving Juventus for Old Trafford. The superbly talented Chilean international has also attracted some vague interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, though these links never materialised into anything more. It looks like it’ll be United or nothing, with the latter perhaps the likelier based on recent reports.

Most likely: Juventus stay

7) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich

A world class talent who still hasn’t moved, Marco Reus’ future remains in some doubt as the summer transfer window edges nearer to closing. The German international would be a big loss for Borussia Dortmund, but they surely don’t hold out much hope of keeping him if rumours of his £20m release clause prove to be true. While it would be great to see him in the Premier League, Bayern have shown a liking for poaching their rivals’ best players, and have been talking up their interest in him recently.

Most likely: Bayern Munich

6) Adrien Rabiot (Paris Saint-Germain)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus, AS Roma

One of the most in-demand young players in Europe at the moment, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot looks likely to be on the move before the end of the summer after turning down a new contract from the French champions. Although both Arsenal and Chelsea are interested, along with Italian pair Juventus and Roma, it looks as though the Gunners may have made some real progress in signing him after holding personal talks with the player.

Most likely: Arsenal

5) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United

Paris Saint-Germain could be losing another top player before the end of the summer as Edinson Cavani continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League. Still, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic looking like being out injured for around a month, the Uruguayan could finally become the focal point of the team and may prove too important to let go.

Most likely: PSG stay

4) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

Interested clubs: Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus

Supposedly available on loan this summer, it is no surprise to see AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao attracting so much interest in the final weeks of the transfer window. The prolific Colombian international has been one of the best attacking players in the world in recent years, and would be a bargain with a loan fee of around £12m. Although Liverpool will surely now have cooled their interest in the 28-year-old, there is still little indication over where he could end up next, with perhaps slight hints that he would favour a move to the Bernabeu.

Most likely: Real Madrid

3) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich

With Carlo Ancelotti confirming that Sami Khedira has rejected the offer of a new contract from Real Madrid, it seems highly likely that the Spanish giants will look to offload him this summer instead of losing him on a free next year. Despite whispers of interest from Bayern Munich, it looks as though it’ll be battle between Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature – one which the Gunners are currently thought to be winning.

Most likely: Arsenal

2) Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

Interested clubs: Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain

Despite earlier interest from French giants PSG, Manchester United currently look the strong favourites to finally wrap up a deal for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, who has asked to leave the club this summer. The Argentine would cost an enormous fee of between £62-65m, but could be well worth it for this struggling United side. If they are willing to pay up, they would be clear favourites to sign him before the end of the month.

Most likely: Manchester United

1) Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)

Interested clubs: Arsenal, AS Monaco, Liverpool

As we learned from Loic Remy’s proposed move to Liverpool, no transfer is ever certain, but one that should take Mario Balotelli to Liverpool from AC Milan is looking just about as certain as possible. The Italian international has attracted plenty of interest this summer and reportedly came close to joining Arsenal, but Anfield now looks like being his destination in a deal that should be announced in the very near future.

Most likely: Liverpool
