Manchester United lead the race for Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria after Paris Saint-Germain pull out

The future of the Argentine continues to rage debate as once again PSG have announced di Maria will not be coming to the Parc des Princes this summer.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions were understood to be interested in the 26-year-old, but have had to pull out due to UEFA’s FFP ruling.

“There are many clubs interested in Di Maria. PSG cannot do what we want. It’s a difficult case,” manager Laurent Blanc was quoted by the Daily Star.

Yet Louis van Gaal is worried di Maria may disrupt the progress of Adnan Januzaj

Although the South American would certainly inject some much needed creativity into the Red Devils’ midfield, van Gaal wants to protect his current players, according to the Daily Express.

Januzaj broke into the first team last season and gained many admirers with his exciting play from the flanks.

The club have also shown their faith in the 19-year-old by giving him Ryan Giggs’ iconic No.11 shirt and van Gaal does not want the arrival of di Maria to unsettle the Belgian.

Anderson is a £5.5m target for Sporting Lisbon

After purchasing Marcos Rojo for £16m and allowing Nani to go on-loan the other way, there could not be a third deal of the summer between United and Sporting.

The Daily Express reports that the Primeira Liga club are eyeing up unwanted midfielder Anderson, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by van Gaal.

The Brazilian arrived from FC Porto in 2007, but has never lived up to his £20m price-tag and it looks as if his days at Old Trafford are numbered.

Van Gaal frustrated at having to sign players from his ‘B’ list

It has been a frustrating summer for the new manager as he has now seen three of his major transfer targets slip through his fingers, reports the Mirror.

Mats Hummels, Toni Kroos and Thomas Vermaelen have all rejected the Dutchman, with the former staying with Borussia Dortmund and the latter two joining Real Madrid and FC Barcelona respectively.

These snubs have seen van Gaal have to turn to his backup options, with Rojo signed from Sporting for £16m and Kroos’ Madrid and Germany teammate Sami Khedira also being touted.

Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin wants a switch to the Red Devils

Van Gaal is still on the search for one more player in the middle of the park and this Colombia international is looking to make himself available for the job.

According to the Daily Star, although Zenit St.Petersburg have made a move for Guarin the 28-year-old does not want to move to Russia.

United meanwhile would be an attractive prospect for the midfield ace and Inter president Erick Thorir is prepared to let the South American leave for £10m.
