Everton 2-2 Arsenal: Player Ratings as Olivier Giroud Puts In Man of the Match Display & Calum Chambers Having a Nightmare

Arsene Wenger’s side showed great character to rescue a point after a shocking first half display.

Arsenal showed great character to fight their way back after poor defending gifted Everton a two goal lead.

A mistake at the back left an unmarked Seamus Coleman free to head home before a distinctly offside goal from Steven Naismith saw the home side go in two nil up at half-time.

Arsenal had plenty of the possession but were not managing to penetrate the Toffee’s decent before a double a superb late salvo saw Aaron Ramsey tap in from close range and Olivier Giroud grab a superb headed equalizer very late on.

Wojciech Szczesny – 6

Pole was not at fault for either goal and had little else to do except pick the ball out of the back of the net.

Mathieu Debuchy – 5

Fairly lacklustre display from the Frenchman, unable to get into the play going forward and not very impressive on the back foot.

Per Mertesacker – 6

Fairly solid, made a few last ditch blocks but overall unconvincing.

Nacho Monreal – 6

A real threat going forward and provided a superb cross for Olivier Giroud’s goal but not to convincing at the back.

Calum Chambers 4

The youngster had impressed in previous outings but looked way out of his depth today making silly errors and frequently being overrun.

Jack Wilshere – 5

Off the pace and unable to influence the game and was rightly subbed.

Mesut Ozil – 5

Virtually non-existent the German vanished for large periods and made little or no impact.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6

Full of running but at times looked aimless

Aaron Ramsey – 8

No shortage of endeavour and often thinking far ahead of his team-mates.

Mathieu Flamini – 6

Showed plenty of energy but gave the ball away far too often.

Alexis Sanchez – 5

Chilean had an edgy display and was pulled off at half-time.

French forward almost scored seconds after coming on, firing over from close in, but was a constant threat and deserved his equalizing goal.

Joel Campbell – 6

Nice touches after coming on but didn’t really have time to put his stamp on the game.

Perfect ball in to provide Aaron Ramsey with a tap in and played a key role in comeback.
