Rodgers warns Balotelli over conduct

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has made incoming signing Mario Balotelli agree to adhere to a strict code of conduct upon moving to Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.

The Reds could pull off one of the most exciting signings of the summer if they do bring in the Italian international for £16m, and they have supposedly been given assurances over his behaviour.

The 24-year-old is known for his disciplinary problems but remains one of the most talented attacking players in the world at his best.

Reds set to sign former Chelsea man

Liverpool have struck a deal to sign former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o on a one-year contract on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 33-year-old spent one season at Stamford Bridger, scoring 12 goals for Jose Mourinho’s side last term, and could arrive as a backup option for Liverpool as they wait to finalise a deal for Balotelli.

Brendan Rodgers has also brought in Rickie Lambert from Southampton this summer in a bid to bolster his attack after Luis Suarez’s £75m move to Barcelona.

Milan hope to hijack Eto’o move

However, AC Milan could still be in the chase to snap up Samuel Eto’o on a free, with the Italian giants hoping to sign the Cameroon international as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian giants are in need of new signings upfront as their star player closes in on a move to Anfield, and Eto’o is thought to be one of a number of top targets to come in.

Other Premier League-based players such as Chelsea striker Fernando Torres and Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez are also being considered.

Sunderland remain set on Liverpool forward

Sunderland have not given up hope of signing Liverpool forward Fabio Borini this summer, according to the Daily Express.

The Black Cats had the Italian youngster on a season-long loan deal last term and now want him on a permanent transfer, though he rejected a move to the Stadium of Light earlier this summer.

Still, he remains a top target for manager Gus Poyet as he looks to improve his attacking options for the new season.

Stoke rule out selling Liverpool target

Stoke City insist that star player Asmir Begovic is not for sale this summer, despite interest from big clubs such as Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid are also thought to be tracking the Bosnian international after his highly impressive recent displays in the Premier League.

However, Stoke manager Mark Hughes has no plans on letting Begovic leave at this stage, though he did concede he could move to a top club in the future.
