Mario Balotelli set to become a Liverpool player on Monday
The AC Milan striker is on the verge of completing a somewhat surprising £16m switch to Anfield.
Balotelli was at Melwood on Friday to complete a medical and then flew back to Italy on Saturday ahead of the move.
The 24-year-old will finalise the transfer after his new club play one of his former ones Manchester City on Monday, reports the Liverpool Echo.
As a result of the Balotelli deal interest in Samuel Eto’o has been dropped
By securing the Italy international the Reds will take their summer spending to almost £120m with the arrival of nine new players.
Balotelli is likely to be the last new face on Merseyside and therefore former Chelsea striker Eto’o will not be signed.

The Serbian has revealed that he has dreamed of playing Premier League football ever since watching Zola strut his stuff for the Blues.

Sunderland keen on loan deal for Reds defender Sebastian Coates
After being made available by the Merseysiders the Black Cats are considering taking Uruguay international Coates on-loan, according to the Daily Mail.
However, with the North East side only allowed to loan one Premier League player manager Gus Poyet is keen to wait to see what happens with another Reds target Fabio Borini.
Poyet has already had a £14m offer for Borini accepted, but the Italian wasn’t keen on leaving and the boss also wants defensive recruitment.
