Manchester United close in on British record £56m Angel di Maria deal

It looks as if the club could finally land their man as Sky Sports reports the transfer of the Real Madrid midfielder is moving closer.

Di Maria’s agent Jorge Mendes is flying to Manchester from Singapore to have the final round of talks with United.

The deal is expected to be completed at the beginning of next week and will be the fourth major arrival at Old Trafford this summer.

A second bid has also been made for Juventus star Arturo Vidal

The excitement doesn’t end there for Red Devils fans either as the pursuit of Vidal hasn’t ended and a second bid is being prepared.

According to the Daily Star a £32m offer has been submitted for the Chile international along with player heading to Turin as well.

It’s believed Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are the two current stars of Old Trafford that have been offered to Juve.

Despite the fact there has only been one match of the new 2014/15 league season van Gaal has already admitted defeat in the title race.

Although they had a good pre-season the Dutchman’s side lost surprisingly at home to Swansea City last weekend and that has dented the confidence.

“I think it would be a miracle but it is also possible. It is always possible but it shall be very difficult,” van Gaal was quoted by the Sun.

United eyeing up a double swoop for Daley Blind and Nigel de Jong

It’s clear that the club’s spending is far from done and a double deal for Netherlands internationals Blind and de Jong is being considered, according to the Daily Star.

Van Gaal knows the duo well having managed them for the Dutch national team and wants them to bolster his squad.

It’s though it would cost a combined fee of £26m to sign de Jong from AC Milan and Blind from Ajax.

New £16m singing Marcos Rojo could go to prison after bottle attack

Less than a week after completing his move from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford, Rojo now faces allegations of a bottle attack on a neighbour.

The alleged incident occurred in Argentina in November 2010, but the 24-year-old is still wanted in court and if found guilty could face a spell in prison, reports the Mirror.

Rojo has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils although is still waiting on a work permit before playing for his new team.
