Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup For QPR Clash: Big Hitters To Return After Europa League Changes

Emmanuel Adebayor, Younes Kaboul, Christian Eriksen and Aaron Lennon likely to return to starting XI.

Tottenham Hotspur face Queens Park Rangers at White Hart Lane this afternoon, with the hosts looking to maintain their 100% record this season.

Spurs began the Premier League campaign with a last-gasp 1-0 win at West Ham United eight days ago, before coming from behind to beat AEL Limassol in the first leg of a Europa League tie on Thursday night.

Here is the team we reckon Mauricio Pochettino will go with against QPR:

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

Lloris has made important saves in each of Tottenham’s first two games this season. The French stopper will once again start between the sticks.
Right-back: Eric Dier

Dier began last weekend’s win against West Ham at centre-back, but he moved to right-back following Kyle Naughton’s red card. With Naughton suspended, Dier, who scored the winner at Upton Park, should fill in.

Left-back: Danny Rose

Rose remained on the bench on Thursday as Ben Davies got a full 90 minutes on his debut. A refreshed Rose is expected to return today.

Centre-back Younes Kaboul

Kaboul was not involved on Thursday, with Pochettino keen to give the France international a rest due to his history of fitness troubles. Kaboul is one of Tottenham’s best defenders, though, and he will probably be among the first names on the teamsheet this afternoon.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen’s 90-minute appearance against Limassol was his first Spurs game this season. He was nowhere near peak fitness and he looked a little shaky at times, but he should get the nod ahead of Michael Dawson, who is available after a brief spell on the injury table.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue

Paulinho and Mousa Dembele both featured against Limassol, with the latter coming off the bench and impressing. However, the duo are unlikely to start this one. Pochettino will probably go for Capoue, who has had much more preseason training and is therefore closer to full fitness.

Midfield: Nabil Bentaleb

Bentaleb was much loved by former head coach Tim Sherwood. Pochettino seems to have taken a shine to the Algerian too. Bentaleb has played every minute of Tottenham’s season so far and another start is on the cards.

Attacking midfield: Aaron Lennon

Lennon can often frustrate due to his lack of goals, but his pace and workrate make him a vital cog in the 4-2-3-1 Spurs machine.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen was rested in midweek, but the Dane is Tottenham’s main man when it comes to the big games and he will surely start.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela

Changed the game against Limassol, coming off the bench and setting up two goals as Spurs came from behind to win. His 30-minute cameo must have convinced Pochettino to start him against QPR.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

Although Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane both scored on Thursday, Adebayor is top of the striking pecking order at White Hart Lane. He should get the nod to lead the attack.
