Emirates Stadium side continue to track impressive Portuguese international.
Arsenal are ready to step-up their interest in Sporting Lisbon youngster William Carvalho once they have successfully secured Champions League group stage action according to CalcioMercato.

The 22 year old enforcer had a standout campaign last term, helping his side to a runners-up spot and a return to Champions League action, before forcing his way into Paulo Bento’s 2014 World Cup squad.
Sporting Lisbon may struggle to retain Carvalho’s services, especially if Arsenal make a big offer for the powerful midfielder, and with Gunners target Sami Khedira apparently staying put at Real Madrid one imagines Arsene Wenger could turn to the Portuguese international as a worthy alternative.
Mikel Arteta is no spring chicken, and is suffering with a niggling ankle injury to boot, and as such Wenger may look to bring in a steely option to boost his ranks and Carvalho is a player with a great deal of potential.
One obstacle may be the player’s massive price-tag with some sources suggesting an offer as high as £35m may be needed to secure the Estádio José Alvalade star, a fee Arsene Wenger is unlikely to fork out.
