Every football purist will tell you that it is too early to judge a new signing for their performances. We after all just two weeks into the new Premier League season.

But that fact doesn’t stop the pressure beginning to mount on some big-money buys who might be under performing, or may not have even managed to make the team thus far.

Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal’s £35m summer signing from Barcelona, was substituted at half-time in his team’s game with Everton yesterday – and fans are beginning to show their concerns over the Chilean’s under-par displays. Here is a list of ten new arrivals who will already be looking to improve:

10) Filipe Luis (Chelsea)

The Brazilian left-back, a summer acquisition from Atletico Madrid, was billed as one of the best full-backs in Europe, but has been left on the bench for his team’s first two games, and needs to win his place from Cesar Azpilicueta.

9) Joleon Lescott (West Brom)

The former England and Manchester City defender was billed as the answer to West Brom’s problems, but has been prevented from appearing for the club through injury thus far. Needs to find his fitness and avoid being a costly bench warmer.

8) Rio Ferdinand (QPR)

The ex-England skipper was thought of as a marquee signing when he arrived from Manchester United this summer, but there was always a risk that at 35 he was past his best. Sure enough, it was his error that cost his team against Hull City on the opening day of the season.

7) Shane Long (Southampton)

Southampton paid out an extraordinary £12m to land the former Hull City and West Brom striker, who has managed just two uninspiring substitute performances thus far. Scored 23 goals in 96 appearances for his previous two clubs, and needs to improve on that to justify his hefty price tag.

6) Ben Davies (Tottenham)

Tottenham are hopeful that the former Swansea man will be the answer to their problems at left-back, but the young Welshman still has some way to go to prove that he deserves to be a Premier League regular.

5) Graziano Pelle (Southampton)

Another struggling Saints striker, Pelle has looked a little on the sluggish side during the start of his career in English football, and the Italian needs to quickly rediscover the form he showed in Holland.

4) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

Accused of being overweight after arriving at Manchester United training, before picking up an injury that has ruled him out of the first month of the season. When the teenager does return to full fitness, he needs to quickly set about justifying his near £30m price tag.

3) Ander Herrera (Manchester United)

Not yet the long lost answer to Manchester United’s midfield problems, the Spaniard needs to show more than he did in his side’s opening day defeat to Swansea City.

2) Rickie Lambert (Liverpool)

The doubters who claim the former Southampton man is not good enough for this level are already firmly on his back after a difficult pre-season, which included a missed penalty. In desperate need of his first goal for the club.

1) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Three disappointing performances so far from the former Barcelona star, against Crystal Palace, Besiktas and Everton. The Chilean is yet to complete a full 90 minutes, and only played half of the draw at Goodison Park on Saturday.
