Manchester City already appear to be in ominous form when it comes to defending their Premier League title, with two goals from Stevan Jovetic helping them to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Eastlands.
Jovetic gave the hosts the lead after capitalising in a poor mistake from left back Alberto Moreno before smashing the ball home.
Jovetic ran the Reds’ defence ragged all evening and, along with David Silva and Samir Nasri, provided the platform for one of the finest team goals we are likely to see all season, with the Montenegrin also providing the finishing touch for City’s second.
It was not just Jovetic who got in on the action for City, however, with striker Sergio Aguero racing clear just 23 seconds after coming on, but how poor was the positioning from Liverpool’s Belgian ‘keeper Simon Mignolet?
Liverpool started well but their defence struggled throughout, before substitute Rickie Lambert bundled the ball home from close range for a late consolation – or was it a Pablo Zabaleta own goal?
