French international Giroud faces three months out after fracturing his foot during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Everton and this leaves Wenger frantically looking to bring in a striker before the transfer deadline next Monday.

The alternative is that Wenger is left to keep faith in youngsters Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell to help offer new signing Alexis Sanchez support in the final third.

The three strikers in question include the following.

Edinson Cavani (PSG)

By some distance the most expensive option of the three with this source claiming that the north London side would have to invest upwards of £40m to land the Uruguayan.

A move to bring in the 27 year old is further hampered by the fact that Laurent Blanc’s leading striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is suffering with a niggling abdominal injury.

Cavani netted 25 goals in his debut season at the Parc des Princes with the powerful marksman scoring 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli prior to his move to the French capital.

Danny Welbeck (Man United)

The England man has apparently been told he can leave Old Trafford by boss Louis van Gaal and is available for around £20m and is a player who enjoyed the best season of his career last term.

Welbeck finds himself behind Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in Man United’s pecking order and even Javier Hernandez has seen more action this season than the 23 year old marksman.

Last term Welbeck scored nine Premier League goals despite starting just 15 top tier domestic fixtures, he then played a prominent role in Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup plans.

Loic Remy (QPR)

The 27 year old Frenchman would be the cheapest of the three options with £8m needed to trigger his release clause.

Remy has more than proven himself at Premier League level and would certainly jump at the chance of a move to the Emirates Stadium, with the carrot of Champions League action sure to tempt the former Marseille man.

A move to Liverpool fell through though talk of a failed medical seems inaccurate given Remy has had two 90 minute run outs in QPR’s opening Premier League matches.
