Will these five eventually find their feet?
5) Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal
The £35m Chilean has done anything but justify his mammoth fee. Quiet against Crystal Palace, and hauled off after 45 minutes against Everton for continually giving the ball away. Arsene Wenger will have already learned that he’s not an out an out no.9, but he’s got the talent to turn it around.
4) Dejan Lovren – Liverpool
There’s nothing a centre-back wants less than travelling to the Etihad for their first major test since making an inflated £20m summer transfer. Just ask Dejan Lovren. The Croat was dreadful against the champions, making mistakes which led to two goals, and looking like a man trying far too desperately to impress. Could well be dropped for Mamadou Sakho.
3) Remy Cabella – Newcastle
Two games, and not so much of a sniff of a goal or an assist out of the Frenchman, who’s only had two shots on goal.
2) Rio Ferdinand – QPR
He was signed on a free, but it’s pretty obvious to see why Manchester United let Ferdinand go on a free. The newly promoted London side have lost their opening two matches, and the ageing Englishman’s pace has been completely exposed time and time again.
1) Graziano Pelle – Southampton
The Italian forward tore up the Dutch league last term, but he’s so far looked out of his depth in the Premier League. He barely got a sniff at Anfield against Liverpool, and did nothing to help a 0-0 stalemate against West Brom.
