Man United Hope to Bank £52m for Unwanted Quartet Before the Summer Transfer Window Slams Shut

Old Trafford side find buyers for unwanted stars.

Man United boss Louis van Gaal has invested around £130m in new signings this summer and appears keen to offload under-performing members of his Old Trafford squad to make room for further signings with the Daily Telegraph reported on three player the Dutch manager is looking to find buyers for.

Van Gaal is hoping to win the race to sign £24m rated Portuguese international enforcer William Carvalho but the sale of first team players to help balance the books.

Tom Cleverley

The midfielder is said to be an Aston Villa target with a £8m bid apparently on the table according to the Metro.

England international was something of a scapegoat last season but regardless of whether the criticism leveled at the 25 year old was entirely justified it’s clear that Cleverley hasn’t done enough to warrant a regular role in the Man United starting eleven and a move away may be best for all concerned.

A move to become a ‘big fish’ in the Villa Park pond may appeal.

Shinji Kagawa

The Japanese international has steadfastly failed to deliver the level of excellence he reached at Borussia Dortmund and it appears a move back to his former Bundesliga side is an option.

Atletico Madrid launched a £14m bid for the 25 year old earlier this month and one imagines a similar offer would tempt Man United to sell the attacker.

Danny Welbeck

The England man has been told he can leave Man United and there is no shortage of offers for the 23 year old with north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal known to be interested in the adaptable forward.

Indeed White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to offer £15m for Welbeck according to the Daily Mirror

Welbeck had his best season to date last term, netting nine goals in 16 Premier League starts, and may well feel the time is right for a fresh challenge if first team action is unlikely at Old Trafford.

Javier Hernandez

The Guardian claim that the Mexican international has been the subject of bids in the region of £12m – £15m from Valencia and Juventus and given that the 26 year old is not part of Louis van Gaal’s plans a summer move is entirely plausible.

Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 154 appearances for Man United, 69 of which were from the bench, but his displays against Swansea City and the MK Dons this term were pretty horrific and have almost certainly led Louis van Gaal to find a buyer for the bit-part performer.
