Manchester City 0-1 Stoke: Home Player Ratings, As Champions Fall To Shock Defeat

Manul Pellegrini’s men struggle badly at home to Potters…

Here’s how we rated the City players from today’s surprising defeat to Stoke at the Etihad…

GK) Joe Hart – 5/10

Tamely let the ball slip between his legs for the goal. Could be replaced by Willy Caballero next week.

DR) Bacary Sagna – 6/10

He’ll be out of the side for Pablo Zabaleta by next weekend, but put in a solid personal performance.

DL) Aleksandar Kolarov – 4/10

Mainly at fault for the goal after letting Diouf burst past him.

DC) Vincent Kompany – 6/10

In truth, barely had anything to do all afternoon.

DC) Martin Demichelis – 6/10

Like Kompany, sat back and watched his attackers frustrated.

MC) Yaya Toure – 6/10

Should have definitely been given a penalty late on, but his protests were ignored. City’s most dangerous player.

MC) Fernando n/a (Fernandinho – 4/10)

Fernando came off injured before the first half, while his fellow Brazilian replacement messed up for the Stoke breakaway goal.

AMR) Samir Nasri – 5/10 (Navas 5/10)

Consistently gave the ball away, but it was because of Stoke’s incredibly deep line. Navas’s pace in behind was therefore obsolete when he came on as well.

AML) David Silva – 6/10

Had plenty of the ball, but couldn’t thread his usual through-balls because the box was so tightly packed.

AM/FC) Stevan Jovetic – 5/10 (Dzeko – 5/10)

Couldn’t find his excellent form from last Monday against Liverpool, and the man that replaced him did very little either.

FC) Sergio Aguero – 5/10

Struggled badly against Stoke’s physical centre-backs. Didn’t look totally fit, either.
