It’s another chance for Manchester United to get their first win of the 2014/15 season as they travel to Turf Moor to take on newly promoted Burnley in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have suffered defeats to Swansea City in the league and a 4-0 humiliation to League One outfit MK Dons in the Capital One Cup, as well as an away draw with Sunderland.

New manager Louis van Gaal is yet to experience a competitive victory as United boss and this is a great chance to change that against the Clarets.

Here’s how CaughtOffside thinks van Gaal will line up his side.

GK – David de Gea

Has been one of the few positives for van Gaal in what has been a difficult start to life at Old Trafford and the goalkeeper could be one of the key reasons the side get their first win.

CB – Phil Jones

The England international has been the most reliable defender so far this term and if he can be given a consistent role in central defence the 22-year-old could finally live up to his potential.

CB – Chris Smalling

Missed the game with MK Dons due to a slight injury, but Smalling should be fit to return for this match and like fellow countryman Jones may just need a bit of faith put in him to succeed.

CB – Jonny Evans

Evans had a woeful return to first team action in the League Cup and defended abysmally, but is a far more experienced figure than Tyler Blackett and Michael Keane and should therefore retain his place.

RWB – Antonio Valencia

Although not outstanding the South American has looked solid enough at right wing-back in this new look formation, which is probably because Valencia has previous experience playing in defence.

LWB – Ashley Young

With Marcos Rojo still waiting on a work permit and Luke Shaw injured, van Gaal still can’t turn to his new signings at left wing-back and therefore Young is likely to get another chance to try and prove himself.

CM – Darren Fletcher

The Scot has been seriously off the pace and against the Black Cats he was arguably the worst player on the pitch, but with Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera all injured the options are limited.

CM – Angel di Maria

This is what United fans have been waiting to see, their new British record £59.7m signing from Real Madrid in the starting XI and we see di Maria beginning the match in a more central role.

CAM – Juan Mata

If Mata and di Maria can click van Gaal could have one of the most formidable attacking midfields in world football on his hands, although the Spaniard is still yet to prove himself at the club.

ST – Robin van Persie

Has cut a frustrated figure so far this campaign, but as the manager knows only too well if the service is right to van Persie there are few better finishers in the game currently.

ST – Wayne Rooney

As the new captain Rooney is almost a certainty to play whenever fit and it remains to be seen how the 28-year-old will settle into his new role and responsibility.
