Real Madrid are ready to offer £20m for Man City forward Alvaro Negredo according to the Daily Mail.

The 29 year old Spanish international is currently out with metatarsal injury but is nonetheless a player Bernabeu boss Calor Ancelotti wants to bring in to boost his central striking options.

Speculation is rife that Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is closing in on a deal to bring in AS Monaco goal machine Radamel Falcao and as such one would imagine Negredo would be pretty much surplus to requirements at the Premier League champions.

Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and even Stevan Jovetic are all likely to be ahead of Negredo in the Man City pecking order at present and the arrival of Falcao would leave the former Sevilla man struggling to even make the bench.

Negredo is already something of a fan favourite with the Man City faithful and his overall tally of 23 goals in his debut season at the club is a pretty good one though it’s worth noting that the powerful marksman hit a bad patch in the second half of 2013/14 during which he went 16 games without a goal.

Alvaro Negredo represented Real Madrid for three years before he left for Sevilla in 2009 having failed to make the grade at his hometown club.
