GK) Simon Mignolet – 7

Made one excellent stop to deny Nacer Chadli, and continued hos good start to the season.

RB) Javi Manquillo – 6

Glen Johnson faces a real battle to win his place in the team back from the impressive young Spaniard.

LB) Alberto Moreno – 8

Scored an outstanding solo goal after stealing the ball from Andros Townsend and defended well too.

CB) Dejan Lovren – 7

An outstanding late tackle to deny Emmanuel Adebayor, and several other crucial interventions.

CB) Mamadou Sakho – 6

Caught out a couple of times by the long ball, and looked nervy early on during his first start of the season. Grew into the game later on.

CM) Steven Gerrard – 7

Coolly slotted home his penalty and was his usual calm and collected self in midfield.

CM) Jordan Henderson – 8

Another all action performance from a player who is getting better and better. Lovely pass for the first goal.

CM) Joe Allen – 6

Won the penalty for the second goal, and did his job nicely.

RW) Daniel Strridge – 6

Caused problems with his movement, and showed promising signs linking up with Balotelli.

ST) Mario Balotelli – 6

Spurned several good chance to open his Liverpool account, but looked sharp and showed good hold-up play before being subbed on the hour mark.

LW) Raheem Sterling – 9

Grabbed the crucial first goal and was a bundle of energy and skill once again.

Manager: Brendan Rodgers – 8

His team bounced back well from the Manchester City defeat. They were set up perfectly and did a great job for him.

Subs:

1) Emre Can – 6 – A comfortable half an hour for the midfielder.

2) Lazar Markovic – 5 – Was quiet, but the game was already won.

3) Jose Enrique – 5 – Returned to a warm reception from the Liverpool fans after a long term injury.
