Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup For Liverpool Clash: Eric Dier & Erik Lamela To Return As Mauricio Pochettino Goes For Fifth Straight Win

Christian Eriksen and Emmanuel Adebayor also to come back into the team after midweek rests.

Tottenham Hotspur can move six points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League table by beating the Reds at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Spurs have won all four games under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, seeing off West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers, as well as defeating AEL Limassol in both legs of their Europa League playoff.

Here is the team we reckon Pochettino will name as he attempts to extend his perfect start…

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

Has played every minute of Tottenham’s four games so far this season and he should get another full 90 today.

Right-back: Eric Dier

Kyle Walker is still injured, but, with Dier having scored two goals in his first two Premier League appearances, Pochettino would probably have stuck with the Cheltenham-born youngster even if Walker had been available.

Left-back: Danny Rose

Ben Davies got the nod for Thursday night’s 3-0 Europa League win over AEL Limassol, but Rose is expected to return for this one.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen is Tottenham’s main man in defence, so he will definitely start this one.

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul

New boy Federico Fazio is available, but it would be a surprise if he started so soon after signing from Sevilla. Kaboul should partner Vertonghen, despite playing the full 90 on Thursday.

Midfield: Nabil Bentaleb

Bentaleb has excelled so far this season in the role of deep-lying playmaker. He may find himself closed down much more frequently today than he was in Tottenham’s wins over West Ham and QPR.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue

With the likes of Paulinho, Mousa Dembele and Sandro as rivals, it seems unlikely that Capoue will be able to maintain his place in Pochettino’s first XI for the whole season. However, he is fitter than the aforementioned trio right now and he is also in good form, having performed well in Tottenham’s opening two league matches.

Attacking midfield: Paulinho

Nacer Chadli may start, having bagged a brace against QPR. However, Paulinho impressed on Thursday night and the Brazilian is a much more all-round midfielder, who could help out Bentaleb and Capoue as well as providing a genuine goal threat.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela

Lamela has been Tottenham’s star man so far this term. Today will be a real test for him, though.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen will probably be the first name on the teamsheet.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

He held the ball up brilliantly and scored a good goal in the thrashing of QPR. Roberto Soldado is not fully fit and Harry Kane, despite being a terrific worker, is not in the same league in terms of quality, so Adebayor will lead the attack.
