Liverpool are keen on signing legendary Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes, reports the Mirror.
The stopper is available on a free after leaving Barcelona on the expiration of his contract this summer, and Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing him to Anfield to compete with Simon Mignolet for a starting spot.
There is no rush to complete a deal however, as Valdes will be able to sign after the window closes because he’s currently unattached.
Sunderland desperate to sign Borini again…
The Tyneside club want to sign Fabio Borini as well as Coates on loan, and will work tirelessly until the 11PM deadline to complete a deal, reports the Mirror.
Back Cats boss GusPoyet told the Sunderland Echo: “Yes (I still want him). I know Fabio and I’m a big believer that when you know the players, you know what you are going to get.
“I keep it open because he’s still a Liverpool player and then maybe he can be a Sunderland player.”

Liverpool’s skipper Steven Gerrard reckons that Luis Suarez’s bite on Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup was a tool to force a move through to Barcelona, reports the Mirror.
The Uruguayan did move to the Spanish giants for an enormous £75m fee, and Gerrard reckons the switch was inevitable after the shocking bite.
“I thought we would have got another year out of him. I was actually on the floor when I saw the footage of the bite because England had just gone out,” said the legendary midfielder.
“I knew there was no way back for him then, really. I knew he was going to engineer a way out.”
