Ditched by Sunderland after a poor showing in England, Diakite will be lucky to get another Premier League move.

DL) Andrea Dossena

Ex-Italian international formerly of Liverpool and Sunderland. Performs best as a wing-back, which could tempt clubs now the formation is in fashion again.

MC) Alou Diarra

Left West Ham by mutual consent in the summer, Diarra is feisty in the tackle, and has Liverpool and Bayern Munich on his CV.

MC) Sotiris Ninis

Ninis is still only 24, and will be desperate to revive his career after being released by Parma. Was once rated as one of Europe’s biggest young talents.

AML) Florent Malouda

Ex-Chelsea flyer, Malouda was released by Turkish side Tranzonspor in the summer. He’s proven quality, and could do a job for a lower Premier League side.

FC) Nilmar

Aged only 30, Nilmar has made 23 appearances for Brazil, and once bagged 18 goals for Villarreal in a La Liga season. Has been making absurd money in the Middle East for two years, but could fancy his chances in a serious European league again.

Started Portugal’s opening World Cup match against Germany, but is still without a club after leaving Besiktas in the summer. Powerful, and can hold the ball up for fun, although his distinct lack of pace could be an issue.
