It’s a clash between two European football heavyweights in this international friendly as France host Spain at the Stade de France.

Having won successive European Championships in 2008 and 2012 and their maiden World Cup in 2010, the Spanish crashed out of this summer’s tournament in Brazil after just two games.

Successive defeats to Netherlands and Chile meant Luis Aragones’ side were the first reigning champions to go out that early.

The French fared better in South America, cruising through their group and reaching the quarter-finals, where their were eliminated by eventual winners Germany.

For the hosts Didier Deschamps can no longer call upon Mickael Landreau, Eric Abidal, Franck Ribery and Samir Nasri as they have all retired from international football.

It’s a similar story of change for the Spaniards, with Xavi, Xabi Alonso and David Villa having all hung up their boots, whilst Dani Carvajal, Raul Garcia, Paco Alcacer, Kiko Casilla and Mikel San Jose have all been drafted in.
