Liverpool News And Rumour Roundup: Reds Defender Targeted By Juventus, Mario Balotelli Dishes Out Advice And Striker Determined To Prove His Worth

Tuesday’s biggest stories for the Reds.

Juventus are interested in Liverpool defender Glen Johnson

The Italian champions are eyeing up a cut-price deal for the right-back with Johnson having entered the final year of his current contract at Anfield, according to the Mirror.

Currently the 30-year-old is set to leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2015 with no new deal on Merseyside looking close to being agreed.

That is why Juve are lining up a bid for Johnson in January, making him the third English full-back to head to Serie A in recent times along with Ashley Cole and Micah Richards.

Reds knocked back in their attempts to sign Lazio’s Antonio Candreva

Yet the Daily Express reports Candreva is now set to sign a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico and end any rumours linking him with England.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito is set to almost double the Italy international’s current wages and offer him the club captaincy as well.

Mario Balotelli advises children on their first day back to school

The striker – who joined Brendan Rodgers’ side from AC Milan this summer in a £16m transfer – is famed for his somewhat unusual off-field antics.

The latest of these sees Balotelli giving advice to children via his Instagram account about what to do on their first day back to school.

Meanwhile Daniel Sturridge has given an update on his injury

There was some bad news for the Reds during the international break as Sturridge was struck down with injury and had to miss England’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Switzerland on Monday.

However, the 25-year-old has given hope to his fans via his own Instagram page by posting a picture with the accompanying line; “Be back soon…”

Fabio Borini to fight for his future at Anfield

After a summer of ongoing transfer negotiations with Sunderland and then QPR, the forward eventually stayed with last season’s runners-up.

Borini is likely to be behind Balotelli, Sturridge and Rickie Lambert for a place in Rodgers’ starting XI, but the Italian is determined to prove his worth.

“I want to earn a place in the side. It is my aim to return to the team and to score goals for Liverpool,” the 23-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.
